I’ve noticed something pretty interesting: every time you post something on a forum, a bunch of people always rush over to “give their advice.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but honestly, for this kind of tool, you really don’t need so many opinions. Think about it—a free timer app, with hundreds already out there, do users really need “more features”? Obviously not. What they want is something they can open and use right away, finish and leave, without any hassle.
So right from the start, I was very clear about my goal: I made this for myself, and if it helps people like me, that’s a bonus. Suggestions like “You should add a Pomodoro feature” or “Can it generate stats reports?”, I basically skim over them. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the feedback—it’s just that the more you try to please everyone with something like this, the more likely it is that nobody will be happy with it in the end.
But I’m still tinkering with a bunch of random stuff, not necessarily to make it more useful, but just for the fun of it. Take the leaderboard, for example—some serious types might say it’s totally unnecessary, but I actually think it’s a lot of fun. It won’t make you more productive, but it might give you a chuckle when you hit pause. That kind of “useless usefulness” is actually the thing I love most about these little tools.
Yesterday, someone was actually chatting with me about this. He asked me to summarize it—or even sell it one section at a time. Haha
I’ll think it over some more; it’s too scattered and fragmented…
App? Is it coming out for both Android and iPhone? I saw that you were applying for Apple—has the Android version been released too? Hurry up and send us a link, haha
