(Answer seriously and get energy)What VPS configuration do you usually use?

(认真答完有能量)What VPS configuration do you use most often?

This post is for all VPS users. Whether you use yours to host a website, access the international internet, run scripts, or simply leave it idle, everyone is welcome to participate in the poll and discussion. The poll is included below; please vote based on the VPS you use most often/as your primary machine. If you have multiple machines, feel free to provide additional details in your reply.

I. Purpose of the Survey

The VPS market has changed considerably over the past few years: budget VPS instances are becoming increasingly common, while dedicated server prices are rising. At the same time, NVMe, AMD EPYC, and ARM architectures are gradually becoming more widespread. When people discuss configurations on the forum, everyone often has a different perspective, so there is no overall picture.

So I’d like to conduct a simple survey to see the distribution of VPS configurations currently in use among forum users, and to make it easier for newcomers to compare options and make informed purchases.

  • 1 GB RAM
  • 2 GB RAM
  • 4 GB RAM or more

III. Discussion Prompts

In addition to voting, everyone is also welcome to share their thoughts in the replies:

  1. Which provider hosts your primary machine, and how much does it cost? Do you think it’s worth the money?
  2. Have you ever gone from being a “high-spec enthusiast” to someone who just wants “good enough,” or vice versa?
  3. Which configuration tier do you think currently offers the best value for money in the VPS market?
  4. Have you ever bought a machine with fantastic specifications that ended up sitting idle?

IV. Conclusion

Once the number of votes reaches a certain level, the survey results will be compiled and updated. A simple distribution chart will then be prepared and posted in a follow-up. Thanks for participating, and feel free to share this with friends who also use VPSs so they can vote too.

Do I have to reply before I can vote?

Can I just submit it directly?

I can’t click to vote.

You had to answer all 6 questions to get energy
(It has now been changed so answering just one is enough)

You didn’t explain clearly why six items are needed. Very few people need to select all of them.

Deep-dive research, huh,
()Even MJJ who aren’t interested will steer clear

You should indicate that the required items are checkboxes—you can select all of them; they aren’t mutually exclusive. Your statistics are probably a mess and have no meaningful value.

That’s enough; the forum doesn’t have such complex features.

Oracle’s 4-core, 24 GB instance is pretty good, hehe.

Looks like there are still more regular routes.

done.

Voted. Dedicated servers are great, but I don’t have any projects for them. Cheap VPSes can be tossed around without a second thought.

I currently only have one VPS, and I plan to get another when I find a suitable one.

I resign. Usually, more chicks are used.
