Hardware Quality Check Script

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-14900K
  • Sysbench: single-thread 4871.7, multi-thread 19320.24
  • GB5 single-core: 2221, GB5 multi-core: 6902
  • Overcommit indicators: balloon reclamation—enabled, KSM reuse—disabled

Test scripts:

# Standard test
bash <(curl -fsSL https://gitee.com/zeruns/Linux-shell/raw/master/benchmark/hardware.sh)

# Deep mode
bash <(curl -Ls https://Hardware.Check.Place) -V

Balloon reclamation, fully known as the virtio-balloon memory balloon driver, can be understood as the host placing an “elastic balloon” inside your virtual machine:

  • When your virtual machine’s memory remains idle for a long time, the host can “inflate” the balloon, occupy the unused memory, and reclaim it for other virtual machines;
  • When your virtual machine’s memory usage increases, the balloon “deflates” and returns the memory to your system.

KSM reuse (Kernel Same-page Merging) is the Linux kernel’s same-page memory merging technology. The host kernel scans the memory of all virtual machines in the background and merges identical memory pages (such as identical system kernels, system libraries, and cached data) into one copy shared by all virtual machines. For example, if a host runs 10 Debian virtual machines whose system-core memory pages are identical, they would originally use 10 copies of that memory; after KSM merging, they use only one, saving a substantial amount of physical memory.
