Synopsis
After his father’s passing, Naim (Joe Bird) and his mother (Mia Wasikowska) relocate to a conservative religious town in an effort to start anew. There, he meets Ryan (Stacey Crowther), a striking young man, and a romance that society refuses to accept quietly begins to bloom. However, when Naim inadvertently uncovers the deeply hidden secret shared by Ryan and Hunter (Jeremy Brevett)—the pastor’s son—jealousy drives him to expose the truth. Hunter’s parents quickly summon an exorcist, hoping to “correct” them through a ritual intended to drive out same-sex attraction. To their shock, instead of granting redemption, the ceremony summons a bizarre supernatural force. This entity takes the form of whoever the victims desire most, leveraging their closest memories and deepest cravings to close in relentlessly, transforming love into a lethal terror. As a string of inexplicable events unfolds, Hunter is brutally murdered, and Ryan gradually falls victim to this dark power. Trying to save the one he loves, Naim turns to the police, but no one believes his story. Consequently, their taboo relationship is brought into the open. Faced with the reality that the person standing before him might be his truest love or his most horrific nightmare, Naim is forced to make a final choice between love and fear.
