Umm, so here’s the thing—I’ve gotten hooked on home cloud servers again recently.
I’ve gone from starting out with a D425, then to J1900, and now I’m on the ARM platform. I’ve played around with both big and small machines, but every time it’s just that I see other people setting up home clouds, and I do the same, only to realize in the end that I don’t really need it ![]()
I can’t even use up all my cloud server resources, and after buying all this hardware, it just feels kind of pointless to get rid of it but wasteful not to use it
. Other people use theirs to run Feiniu or PVE or whatever. I don’t even use Jellyfin, and I’m a loyal user of Proton Drive/Google One/OneDrive/123 Pan, so I just wanted to ask—what do you all use your home clouds for? Maybe you’ll give me some ideas so I can finally put this junk to use ![]()

If you don’t have any specific professional requirements,
generally one device running everything as an AIO (All-in-One) is enough:
- Bypass router (to solve internet access issues)
- Feiniu (for storage backup and LAN file sharing)
- A Windows environment (for downloading, testing new software, and running tasks)
- A Linux environment (for running Docker, compiling, reverse proxying, etc.)
If you have multiple devices, you can split these functions up and assign certain roles to dedicated physical devices based on importance~
If you have a high-performance device, you could even run a private AI large model—should be pretty good~

Just put it up for adoption on Xianyu.

Barebones systems just aren’t selling well these days. After memory prices went up, the prices dropped like crazy—it’s hard to let go ![]()
Get it done in one go—do a DIY.
Set up a soft router, then run some scripts in a Linux environment, set up file sharing, do some BT downloading, and maybe set up a TS voice server or something like that.
