How do you all use AI to write code? I just don't get it

Take my fork as an example:

Last time when @lzA6 did that great public-spirited update, I forgot to specify what I wanted. He made a Qt6 implementation, but what I was actually looking for was something like a PVE (Proxmox VE)-style solution. Since then, I’ve been trying to use AI to modify it, but no matter what I do, it just doesn’t turn out right, and I end up losing a ton of functionality. I even tried integrating noVNC and an SMB server, but the more I modified it, the more things broke. At this point, I’ve already used over 1 billion tokens, and still don’t have anything working. So, I’d like to learn from you all—does anyone have tips or experience? (I basically want to copy what PVE does.)

That’s because the AI you’re using isn’t smart enough…

Sonnet, opus. Haiku just won’t work.

Actually, I’ve used them too—the cost is a bit high, but I’m not sure if it’s an issue with my configuration. I wasn’t satisfied with the final results from either Opus or Sonet.

You need to strictly limit what he’s allowed to change, otherwise things will just get worse and worse!

Other than GPT-5.4, the ones above are hard to rate.
