If you link an old Facebook account, you don’t need to add a card.
They offer three ways to verify your age (credit card, Facebook account, or Instagram account). If your account isn’t old enough, it seems they’ll still charge your credit card.
I used a China Merchants Bank Mastercard. I was charged $1 on the first day, and it was refunded the next day.
Then I looked into it, and this card verification wasn’t saved as a payment method. At least, I couldn’t find anywhere that it had been linked.
I signed up to get in line.
